Article Types

Original Research

Original Research articles are equipped with the aims, study, and methods necessary for furthering original research. The article includes results, which are reported, interpreted, and discussed in the context of possible implications. Original Research articles may eliminate or reformulate hypothesis in reference with previously published scholarship. This article type cannot exceed 10,000 words, should include a 300-word abstract and can include up to six figures and/or tables.

Review Essay

Reviews engage with topics, which have been comprehensively discussed and developed to a great depth in recent years. Review Essays do not serve the purpose of mere summaries of literature, but should offer a substantial critique of core concepts, themes, issues and problems that define the field. Review Essays cannot include unpublished material. This article type cannot exceed 8,000 words, should include a 250-word abstract and can include up to four figures and/or tables.

Conceptual Paper

Conceptual Papers offer insights into concepts, problems, issues, and themes that are pressing and define the field of Global Studies. This article type aims at presenting a new and original argument, or a novel interpretation. Conceptual Papers should be critical and cannot include unpublished data. This article type cannot exceed 6,000 words, should include a 250-word abstract and can include up to four figures and/or tables.

Book Review

Book Reviews are constructive and short criticisms. They examine content, style, and merit of a recently published book. This article type cannot exceed 3,000 words, does not require an abstract and can include up to one figure and/or table.

Commentary

Commentaries are platforms for researchers to express their viewpoints and offer unique perspectives and interpretations of facts, methodologies, weaknesses and strengths of any theory, issue, topic or theme relevant to the field of Global Studies. This article type discusses a research paper or provides critical analysis of an already existing publication. This article type cannot exceed 3,000 words, should include a 250-word abstract and can include up to two figures and/or tables.
